POSITION PURPOSE:

  • Engages with and actively collaborates with clients, community partners and visitors to improve the client experience in the drop-in center and shelter.

  • To be successful in this position, he/she must demonstrate through action best practices related to inclusivity and cultural humility as well of knowledge of social service safety net and housing programs that benefit people experiencing homelessness.

POSITION HIGHIGHTS/BENEFITS:

Work Schedule: This is a Non-Exempt (hourly) position. W ork hours are congruent with the hours of operation at Second Avenue Commons. Primarily daylight, Monday – Friday. Some evenings and weekends may be required. Will also provide on-call support according to a rotation schedule.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's in Human Services and 1 year of homeless services, residential and crisis services delivery OR Bachelor's in Human Services and 3 years of homeless services, residential and crisis services delivery OR An Associate degree in Mental Health & 4 years OR High School diploma & 8 years of job related clinical mental health experience is accepted. Act 33/34/73 clearances Pre-Employment Drug Screen

  • Acts as a community liaison with clients seeking services, community partners and stakeholders to ensure that both the drop-in center and shelter clients receive excellent coordination of care. This will include forming linkages and connections to additional resources and services that are determined to beneficial to clients receiving services.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Engages with and actively collaborates with clients, community partners and visitors to improve the client experience in the drop-in center and shelter.

  • This position leads as chairperson the Consumer Leadership Group (CLG) and is responsible with establishing and sustaining CLG membership by continually extending an invitation to clients who have experienced or are experiencing homelessness to engage, be real, be heard, and advocate on their own behalf.

  • Will ensure that the CLG convenes once per month on an ongoing basis. Based on the feedback received by CLG, The CECP Coordinator will make recommendations on potential drop-in center and shelter improvements to the Homeless Services Supervisors and Executive Leadership.

  • Will coordinate volunteer, student and staff led shelter/drop-in center activities to ensure scheduled activities meet the needs of served clients.

  • Maintains continual contact with clients receiving drop-in and shelter services to assess their satisfaction and communicates client responses back to the drop-in center/shelter team so that timely intervention may occur.
