Aerotek Machine Operator in PITTSBURG, California

Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for the current machine operation, bundling steel after it comes off the production line, placing it on carts, and moving it to the appropriate areas. You will help maintain a clean working area with minimal debris and scrap metal from the lines. During line downtimes, you will stay productive by finding other tasks such as sweeping, organizing, or assisting other employees as needed. The facility has 11 production lines, divided between technical and structural lines, and you will work on either line as needed. You will assist in machine setups and changeovers by removing and replacing tooling rolls, cut-off dies, punch dies, table spacers, die springs, excess materials, die blades, shims, spacers, embossing stamps, and unipunches. You will accumulate products as they exit the machine and safely stack them onto standard company pallets. You will learn and apply packaging requirements, including writing pallet descriptions, applying pallet stickers, spray painting gauge colors, and operating banding machines to secure metal strapping and wood blocks to pallets. You will also learn to operate a Jib crane safely and effectively to maneuver slit coils onto the machine uncoilers. You must read a tape measure and apply measurements for quality control purposes, including product lengths, widths, heights, slit coil widths, ID, OD, tooling roll spacers, and knives. You will follow the Helper Housekeeping procedure daily at the end of your shift, including sweeping around your machine, picking up debris, and cleaning painted surfaces. You must read, understand, and apply all safety practices within the general safety rules manual in your daily activities. Additional responsibilities include removing punch-out bins, operating wood and metal saws, learning company standards, maintaining production supplies, performing basic daily maintenance of machines and equipment, and removing scrap from machines throughout the day. You may work at special workstations requiring hand tools, screw guns, paint rollers, shop vacuums, razor knives, hammers, pressurized air, carts, dollies, brooms, mops, rags, and spray bottles. You will assist with the inline welding process and must consult with your supervisor if unsure of any duties.
