The role monitors and tests the quality of products, ensuring that they meet standards and customer expectations.

Position: Quality Engineer

Type: Full-Time; Direct Hire

Location: North Phoenix, Arizona

Pay Range: 90-120k DOE

Responsibilities:

  • Champion Customer Satisfaction: Actively listen to and address customer concerns regarding product quality. Provide transparent and timely communication on quality matters to build trust.
  • Project Quality Expert: Develop a deep understanding of project scope and quality requirements specific to your assigned area. Meticulously review project quality plans and other quality documents to ensure thorough understanding.
  • Quality Standards Advocate: Identify detailed quality requirements outlined in project specifications, industry codes, and relevant standards. Establish appropriate inspection and testing frequencies to guarantee consistent quality control.
  • Meticulous Inspection and Testing: Perform thorough inspections and tests at prescribed frequencies within your assigned area. Ensure required inspections and tests are conducted by others according to established protocols to maintain a comprehensive quality control system.
  • Detailed Quality Documentation: Prepare comprehensive inspection and test reports, meticulously maintaining quality control files for your area of responsibility. Verify all inspections and tests comply with applicable project documents, industry codes, and standards to ensure documented adherence.
  • Technical Expertise Leverage: Utilize your in-depth understanding of industry codes and standards to accurately evaluate product compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Effective Communication Champion: Maintain clear and consistent communication (written and oral) with supervisors, colleagues, and the project management team. Effectively communicate test results with complete and accurate documentation, fostering transparency and collaboration.
  • Standards Compliance Champion: Ensure a thorough understanding of relevant codes and standards applicable to your assigned tasks. Organize and store quality documents according to company and project document management procedures, promoting efficient access and adherence.
  • Nonconformance Management: Identify and report non-conforming work following established quality procedures. Verify that corrective actions are properly implemented for non-conforming work to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Build strong working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and the project management team. Actively participate in and contribute quality-focused insights during task planning meetings, fostering a collaborative quality culture.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years\' experience in a quality control or inspection role, demonstrating a strong track record of ensuring quality.
  • Proven ability to work independently while maintaining excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Associate\'s degree in engineering technology or science with two years of experience in a related construction field (with at least one year in a QA/QC position); or a high school diploma/GED with four years of experience in a related construction field (with at least two years in a QA/QC position).
  • In-depth knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, associated inspection techniques, and testing methods o ensure product quality.
  • Understanding of relevant construction industry codes within your area of expertise, demonstrating a commitment to adherence.
  • Certifications from AWS, ACI, ICBO, ASNT, NACE, API (may be required for certain positions).
  • Consistent and reliable attendance, demonstrating a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work productively and meet deadlines consistently, demonstrating strong time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with supervisors, colleagues, and others in both individual and team settings, fostering collaboration.
  • Commitment to safety by understanding and following all written and oral instructions, including adherence to warning signs, equipment use protocols, and company policies.
  • Ability to work effectively during standard operating hours to organize and complete tasks within deadlines. Adaptability and willingness to work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Willingness to work at various locations with potentially variable working conditions, demonstrating flexibility.
