Responsibilities * Participate in project planning, recording, and evaluation of data. * Conduct independent scholarly research, developing new methods and protocols under the guidance of a mentor (principal investigator). * Acquire technical, lab management, and grant writing skills. * Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions, national presentations, and professional workshops. * Supervise junior lab members. * Assist with other research projects as needed. About the Laboratory A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Lefebvre laboratory in the Translational Research Program in Pediatric Orthopaedics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Abramson Research Institute.

The fellow will contribute to a research project aiming at elucidating cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying genetic skeletal dysplasias, including achondroplasia and campomelic dysplasia, and at developing gene therapy approaches to alleviate the clinical manifestations of these disorders and improve the quality of life of affected individuals. The fellow will use cutting-edge approaches in vivo and in vitro, including mouse models, human iPSC-derived organoid models, high-throughput 'omics' approaches and gene therapy strategies. Successful accomplishment of this research is anticipated to deepen fundamental scientific knowledge and to increase our understanding of mechanisms underlying skeletal dysplasias. It is also anticipated to help the fellow launch a promising career as an independent research investigator.

Strong candidates for this position will be eager to contribute to pioneering translational research. They will have obtained a Ph.D. degree in the last three years and will have a solid scientific background and a strong publication record relevant to the project. They will also have outstanding communication skills and first-rate interpersonal and organizational skills.
