DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is an advanced position which enforces the provisions of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act by investigating and conciliating complaints of discrimination primarily in employment and public accommodations alleged to have occurred because of a protected class such as race, color, sex, national origin, ancestry, religious creed, age, familial status, disability, and/or retaliation.

As a Human Relations Representative 1, you will investigate and conciliate complaints of alleged discrimination primarily in employment and public accommodations, assess jurisdiction, draft and investigate complaints of discrimination, and serve as the facilitator of the settlement process by communicating settlement proposals.  If a public hearing is approved based upon findings, you will assist the legal department in any further processing of the case as well as provide testimony at hearings or civil proceedings as necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Philadelphia. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Human Relations Representative Trainee (commonwealth title); or One year of professional administrative investigative, criminal investigative, regulatory investigative, civil rights, or human rights experience involving gathering evidence, interviewing, and reporting investigative findings; and a bachelor's degree that includes 12 credits in human resources, labor management relations, civil rights, social work, social justice, public policy, public administration, or a related field; or An equivalent combination of training and experience that includes 12 college credits in human resources, labor management relations, civil rights, social work, social justice, public policy, public administration, or a related field.
