Neshoba County General Hospital-Nursing Home Registered Nurse Surgery PRN in Philadelphia, Mississippi
The Registered Nurse (RN) in Surgery/PACU at Neshoba General Hospital is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients recovering from surgical procedures, ensuring optimal outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Minimum Requirements:
- Current unrestricted Mississippi RN license.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral, to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Professional phone skills for coordinating patient care and addressing inquiries.
- Excellent customer relations, interpersonal, and computer skills for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' post-operative condition and monitor vital signs, pain levels, and recovery progress.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on patients' needs and surgical procedures.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.
- Monitor and maintain patient airway, circulation, and oxygenation status, intervening promptly as needed.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care throughout the perioperative period.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding post-operative care instructions, pain management, and discharge planning.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
- Utilize computer systems for electronic medical records, documentation, and communication.
