Vectrus Mid-Level Aircraft Avionics Engineer in Patuxent River, Maryland

At V2X, we are making a difference by providing support to programs at NAVAIR . This office is responsible for research, development, acquisition, and sustainment of the Navy's Autonomous Aircraft program . We are looking for a Mid-Level Aircraft Avionics Engineer to support the execution of Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) development research and development (R&D) programs, working with customers to develop new capabilities, define gaps, derive requirements, and develop project task descriptions, specifications, integrated roadmaps, and detailed schedules. This position is located on-site in Patuxent River, MD and requires the candidate to have an active U.S. DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

Major Job Activities:

  • Serve as the aircraft avionics engineer for team project technical execution, coordination, risk management and communication of concerns and issues with program management and technical leadership.

  • Support coordination functions between government and contractor project leads and engineers along with the operational subject matter experts, warfighters, and military leaders involved in program planning and execution.

  • Support and coordinate technical reviews, data analysis and reports, and monitor and report team and contract status / execution. Support the development of acquisition and technical documentation.

  • Serve as the aircraft avionics engineering, sensor tracking, and data fusion focal point for coordination of technical project status and task execution throughout the design, engineering, integration, test, and program execution processes.

  • Support and provide insight to determine the effectiveness of project execution and recommend modifications to task processes for future project activities or design reviews.

  • Work with the Project Management and Task Lead(s} to develop out year planning for future capabilities, and provide input to road maps for analysis, risk reduction, development, and integration of advanced capabilities.

  • Analyze contractor proposals as permitted by law and regulation.

  • Develop, execute, monitor, and report status on several assigned project task efforts including analysis oftest data.

  • Occasional (20-30%) travel is required for this position.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.

  • Active U.S. DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.

    Required Experience / Skills:

  • At least five (5) years of experience in Avionics Systems and/or Sensor Systems Engineering, and Aviation Systems engineering and requirements development processes.

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point).

  • Demonstrated good oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience coordinating operations across multiple organizational boundaries.

  • Experience working in a dynamic, schedule constrained, and complex security environment.
