CITY OF OREM Help Desk Technician 1 in OREM, Utah

Employment Opportunity

Under the direction of the Information Technology Help Desk Supervisor the Help Desk Technician I (Tech I) is responsible for supporting and maintaining the City's personal computer systems (PCs) and assisting the operational functions of the Cityt's computer systems.

Qualifications

Base knowledge of current PC hardware and software products. Learn the operations, system configurations and maintenance of the City's computer systems, personal computers and their peripheral equipment. Execute understanding of these over time. Knowledge on how to install software onto PCs in an organized, efficient, and effective manner. Knowledge of industry best practices and standards. Working knowledge of the computer's operating system and commands, PC operating systems, MS Windows, and basic LAN and WAN networking.  Knowledge of network (TCP/IP) troubleshooting.Knowledge of office productivity software.Ability to diagnose computer hardware and software problems.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, other employees and user departments.Excellent customer service skills.Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple assignments and meet deadlines.Skill in the operation of PCs, and other peripheral equipment.  Ability to analyze procedural operations and to organize the component parts into a logical system.Ability to install and troubleshoot IP telephones.Ability to gain knowledge of local area networks, TCP/IP networking, network topology, LAN and WAN related protocols, and network security issues. Requires a High School Diploma and two years of experience or equivalent experience in PC support and/or computer operations.. Maintains a valid Utah Driver's License.  Will observe all traffic regulations, follow City policy and be a safe, courteous and responsible driver while operating City vehicles.  Must wear seat belts and make certain that other passengers are in seatbelts when the vehicle is in operation.
