MOUNTAINLAND ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS Community Development Assistant in OREM, Utah

Job Summary:

This position is part of a small but mighty team that manages several community development grant programs. This position assists with all aspects of program planning, implementation, compliance, and reporting, including providing technical assistance and training to eligible jurisdictions and non-profit agencies applying for grant funding, assisting with environmental review and labor compliance requirements, maintaining income survey data, and conducting on-site and remote audits of grantees. Responsibilities also include assisting with the HEAT and Weatherization programs, including screening applications, directing client calls, and program outreach. Essential Duties & Responsibilities-

Assist with the following grant administration tasks: 

  • Provide technical assistance to communities and non-profits applying for grant funds, update application and training materials annually, and schedule applicant interviews.
  • Prepare project environmental reviews and contracts.
  • Review grantee fund requests and performance reports.
  • Monitor labor compliance for construction projects.
  • Monitor grantee performance and compliance.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual plans and reports.

     

Assist with the following client service tasks:

  • Direct client calls to the HEAT and Weatherization programs, and answer basic program questions
  • Screen applications for eligibility
  • Schedule client appointments
  • Assist with program outreach efforts
  • Process invoices for payment
  • Other duties as assigned

Required qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in public administration, business, policy, grant writing, community and/or economic development or related field from an accredited institution OR two years of experience in administration, contract management, community development, or economic development, OR an equivalent year-for-year combination of education and experience in related fields. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and assist with a diverse range of projects
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; strong interpersonal communication skills and technical writing ability.  
  • Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment, creative thinking and analytical problem solving. 
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues, management, grant recipients, elected officials, and interagency staff. 
  • Must be detail-oriented in maintaining documentation and ensuring complex program requirements are consistently followed by many project recipients.  
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and assertive.
  • Maintain professionalism, integrity, and a public-service attitude. 
  • Travel is a requirement of this position. Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
  • Some evening or weekend work may be necessary.

Working Conditions:  

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. This is a salaried position, expected to work 40 hours per week. Some travel required in this position.

 

Physical Requirements: 

This position requires sitting for long periods of time and performing computer related work. The individual must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
