Job Title: BHI Manager, Nursing Services

Serves as lead nurse and coordinator of daily on-site clinical activities occurring within the acute behavioral health institute. Serves as the liaison person between the nursing team and all community partners associated with the behavioral health institute services provided by nursing. Provides direct clinical supervision of assigned personnel. • Knowledgeable of the medical aspects of addiction, including dual diagnosis,

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (7-10 statements)

15%• Assists with schedules for unit staff.

• Assists with payroll/downtime procedures.

• Performs customer rounding on the unit and during patient/family visitation.

• Investigates and responds to Safecare events.

10%• Performs chart reviews, PI/QI activities on the unit.

• Management of the adjustment of staffing to meet patient needs. Serves as a clinical resource.

• Initiates initial levels of corrective action with director/leadership team input.

• Assures compliance with departmental and institutional policies, procedures and goals.

15%• Monitors assignments and adjusts accordingly to assure appropriate productivity levels and avoidance of overtime expense.

• Serves as a positive role model to the staff and maintains those same expectations from staff.

• Participates in unit specific orientation for all new personnel.

• Promotes professional growth of designated personnel through scheduling and assuring attendance of appropriate education programs.

• Indirectly supervises volunteers, students, ancillaries etc.

15%• Serves as a knowledgeable resource intra/interdepartmentally and to other customers.

• Competently functions in a staff nurse capacity.

• Monitors and ensures Staff competency.

• Participates actively in establishing standards of care affecting department, guidelines, policies, and protocols.

• Maintains and enforces awareness of medical/psychiatric legal aspects of nursing-patient care i.e. (including but not limited to) consents, medical records/patient confidentiality,, pt. legal status and any other incidents.

15%• Reviews and updates care plans daily and participates in treatment team meetings. Confers with all customers concerning customer service issues and resolves the issues.

• Actively involved and provides input in department planning re: budgets, TJC, ODMHAS Licensure and other regulatory activities.

15%• Actively participates in transformation team .

• Serves as a liaison to support and maintain all customer relationships.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS (must be non-expired/active unless otherwise stated):

Required: Must have or obtain ANCC Psychiatric Nurse Certification Education within 1 years of hire.

Must have current/unrestricted state nursing licensure or license eligible within 30 days of hire

Preferred: Deescalation Training within 90 days of hire; CPR upon hire

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Years and Type of Experience: Five or more years of acute adult behavioral nursing is desired.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Possesses basic computer skills; demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications. Ability to follow instruction, use constructive feedback, demonstrate professionalism, responsibility, critical thinking, and stress management skill

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Ability to use critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills including but not limited to analysis, problem solving, and decision-making. Ability to efficiently manage time, priorities and resources
