About You and this Role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Analytical Technician in Orange, Texas.

Dow has an exciting job opportunity as an Analytical Technician located in Orange, Texas within Sabine River Operations (SRO).

The successful candidate supports manufacturing operations through laboratory analyses and evaluation of results to provide critical data to units and for quality product release. This role will include sample preparation, basic calibration, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and methods. The ideal candidate will possess broad technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a wide variety of lab related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine analyses including but not limited to Melt Index, IR, Gas Chromatography, Liquid Chromatography, Titration, Film Extrusion, etc.

  • Prepare standards including internal standards, calibration standards, & check standards

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance of instruments.

  • Evaluate validity of data, applying basic statistics, and interpreting results.

  • Monitoring analytical systems to identify potential problems and conducting first-line troubleshooting escalating as appropriate.

  • Document, communicate and archives analytical results and calibration data.

  • Follow Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures and practices for work tasks.

  • Suggest improvements to lab work processes and tools.

  • Escalate non-routine requests to appropriate team member for follow-up.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required and one of the following: Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemistry or a science related field OR 3 or more years in chemical laboratory setting.

  • Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating shift that includes weekends, nights, & holidays as well as providing necessary overtime coverage.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in a plastics laboratory preferred.

  • Prior experience with LIMS or other laboratory management system preferred.

  • Prior experience with Gas Chromatography, Liquid Chromatography or Gel Characterization preferred.

Additional Notes

  • No relocation assistance is available for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work in such environments wearing safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.

  • Work in such environments with frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
