Provide customer service/technical support for OneNets statewide Internet services.

Responsibilities and Duties

Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability for the network group.

Maintains process workflows for Netgroup ticket activities and implements new technologies, as applicable.

Assist in network analysis and design for all network infrastructure.

Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.

Actively support router/switch installations, modifications and upgrades.

Support services such as packet filtering, firewall services, VPNs and router upgrades.

Tier 2-3 support for the OneNet helpdesk for network-related issues.

Assist lead engineer for MPLS network deployments.

Establishment, configuration and testing of new circuit connections.

Support of circuit changes, upgrades and modifications to facilitate customer growth.

Work in conjunction with the customers technical/consulting services to establish, improve and/or upgrade customer services and/or OneNet offerings as required by the customer.

Implement and maintain all network related servers and services for the network group.

Research and design all new network related services for the network group.

Help develop L3 / L2 VPN configurations for network performance enhancements.

Address tasks and projects in the network group as assigned.

Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for OneNet to take advantage of new technology.

Primary contact to support high profile customers.

May lead and direct the training of other engineers.

May lead and direct engineers in day to day activities.

Attends to obligations and supports other company initiatives as directed.

Document new design standards and improvements on existing processes.

Serve on call rotation with network group.

Similar duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidate must have the capability to plan, design, install and implement a variety of network infrastructures. The candidate should also possess the knowledge of telecommunications, networks and computer operating systems. In addition, they should have a comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP and related protocols and technologies. The candidate should be proficient in routing protocol management (OSPF, BGP, IGRP/EIGRP, CDP, and NAT is a plus). Candidate should be proficient in configuration and management of Juniper and Cisco platforms. Must also be able to troubleshoot and provide solutions to telecommunications and application issues. Candidate should demonstrate knowledge of virtual platforms including VMware ESX/ESXi. Candidate should be well versed in high-availability configurations of virtual server environments as well as disaster recovery procedures. Candidate should be proficient in administering and maintaining Unix/Linux Environments, specifically in regard to patching, OS upgrades, and data recovery.

Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and network customers. Candidate must be self-motivated and demonstrate a willingness to follow through on tasks and have the ability to learn and grow technologies relevant to advancing OneNet and its customers. Candidate should be proficient in project tracking and documentation. Candidate must provide a cellular telephone, cellular service and home Internet service for work-related activities.
