Continental Resources Associate Accountant in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Job Summary

Responsibilities will be assigned at an entry level. Associate Accountant should already have knowledge of accounting concepts, guidelines, principles, and practices, to be able to apply GAAP to Oil and Gas Accounting. Associate will perform routine assignments and assist in the day-to-day maintenance of Property Accounting related to general ledger accounts by using accounting software and Microsoft Excel. This accounting position will provide exposure to a wide range of departments and financial processes, ultimately supporting a supervisor in the duties outlined below.

Performs routine and structured work assignments. Contributes to projects within a team, function, or work group. Knowledge of fundamental theories, principles and practices in the area of specialization. Exercises limited discretion within established procedures to solve problems of limited scope and complexity. Works under direct supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • A/R and A/P Activities

  • Expense Allocations

  • Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) Analysis

  • Fixed Assets – Accounting & Reconciliation

  • Monthly Accrual Processes

  • Train with coworkers on other aspects of Property Accounting: Non-Producing Leasehold, Work-In-Progress (WIP), Producing Properties, Depreciation concepts and Lease Accounting

  • Assist with other duties related to the monthly financial closing schedule

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from accredited College or University.

  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Capable in Microsoft Excel – knowledge of formulas and pivot tables.

  • Previous Oil and Gas Experience – Accounting or otherwise.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
