This is a work study position. Improve math and reading skills in secondary students in targeted areas of Utah. Primarily in Ogden and Weber Districts. Mentors will report to the program site manager. Responsibilities include leading small group based mentoring,and software-focused math activities. Helping students set and achieve weekly goal,and providing STEM-related activities and opportunities for hands on learning.Other areas may include education enrichment in basic skill areas including reading,math,computer applications etc. to individuals and groups through interactive engagement and instruction. Mentors will share information about STEM careers,scholarships,and internships and assist with the coordination and implementation of special events,speakers and field trips. Prepare information presentations and activities to enhance students skill around communication,problem-solving academic strategies and knowledge about science,technology,entrepreneurship,and math. Conduct research to promote and support program initiatives. (Some travel field trips is required.)
