Position Overview:

Performs clerical and routine tasks to complete the processing of patient menus, and diet and nourishment orders. Answers telephones and processes computer orders at assigned times. Maintains and organizes central files and office supplies. Maintains patient services records including daily meal census, and processes charges for department services.

Job Description :

  • Processes computer diet orders to update menus, patient profile records and nourishment

  • orders.

  • Organizes menu packets for trayline. Checks trayline to guarantee accuracy and to

  • maintain quality standards of patient service menu.

  • Answers telephones and maintains record of calls.

  • Checks menus according to updated patient profile. Edits menus forcompleteness according to physician's diet order and patient preference.

  • Heads (fills-in) menus with patient's name, room number and diet.

  • Tabulates menu items for production areas.

  • Prints and codes beverage lists according to diet for volunteers beverage cart. Prints and processes nourishment labels, and distributes to production area for patient's between-meal feedings .

  • Assists Dietetic Technicians i n recording patient's food preferences, food allergies and

  • other pertinent information into diet kardexes to maintain updated records.

  • Maintains daily meal counts and patient census.

  • Inputs charges for department services into computer.

  • Maintains office files and orders office supplies.

  • By maintaining high standards of excellence, helps the Medical Center fulfill its mission

  • by providing compassionate care and respecting the dignity of others.Applies the

  • principles of "continuous quality improvement" which includes working cooperatively

  • with colleagues and projecting a service orientation toward all.

EDUCATION

  • Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • HS Diploma or three to six months related experience and/or training ; or equivalent combination of education and experience. or equivalent education/experience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to operate computer.

  • Ability to communicate effectively over the telephone and work at a rapid pace with attention to detail.

  • Ability to process written information (diet orders) accurately and rapidly.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Pay Range is $28.44 to $34.63 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
