Overview

Work in the heart of #humankindess at CHI Oakes Hospital.

As our LPN in Med/Surg, you'll provide nursing care for assigned patients, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, in accordance with physician’s orders and established policies and procedures of the nursing department as well as professional standards of nursing, applicable Federal and State laws, state nurse practice guidelines, and regulatory agencies. Communicates with team members about changes in patient’s clinical condition and is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Cares for patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric.

About Us:

CHI Oakes Hospital is a 20-bed critical access hospital that provides various inpatient and outpatient services to approximately 14000 people in southeastern North Dakota. It is also a 24-Hour Emergency Level V Trauma Center. The hospital building was newly-constructed in 2007 replacing a 50-year old building and in 2010 Oakes Community Clinic was opened within the hospital building. The hospital is part of a larger values-based organization CommonSpirit Health.

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient care responsibilities considering the needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age.

  • Sets up scrubs and prepares for procedures prior to scheduled time, as directed by the RN circulating nurse.

  • Always maintain an orderly and sterile instrument table for the purpose of efficiency; follows Operating Room standard set up.

  • Ability, under direct supervision of an R.N., to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.

  • Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and patient’s clinical condition.

  • Anticipates the needs of surgeon during intra-operative phase.

  • Demonstrates competence in care of specimens and accurately handles specimens at all times.

  • Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care, under the direction of a R.N.

  • Follows written procedures for steam sterilization; knows responsibilities and the necessity for chemical and biological monitoring.

  • Cleans and prepares room between procedures and after last case; restocks supplies when necessary and organizes effectively for end-of-case clean up.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a state approved school of nursing.

  • Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of North Dakota.

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).

  • ACLS and PALS within six (6) months of hire.

Pay Range

$21.91 - $31.77 /hour
