The Joint Commission Education Manager in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois

Overview

The Education Manager is responsible for the successful deployment of all TMD courses, from scheduling through evaluation and learner follow up. The Education Manager serves as a liaison between TMD and instructors, vendors, course participants, and the learning management system (LMS), ensuring that everyone has the information and materials they need for successful teaching and learning. For identified courses, the Education Manager creates curriculum, education/training and follow up activities or guides the outsourcer through all phases of the ADDIE model to create these deliverables.

This Education Manager is an advocate for learning, helping the organization meet its strategic goals by connecting employees to training and resources that will help them develop new skills needed by the business.

Responsibilities

  • Administer learning and development programs, deploy evaluations for all learning and development programs, and interact with participants post training to assign or recommend additional learning strategies, tools, and resources.

  • For learning needs identified by TMD staff, guide the outsourcing process for the development of courses, materials, job aids, etc.; make course / material updates/original content using Storyline or other software when cost and time effective. Work directly with customers to ensure outsourced education is high quality, meets learning needs, and is designed to meet desired outcomes.

  • Create extended educational support in the form of learning follow up activities and resources at the 30-, 60-, or 90-day mark. Help managers incorporate learning follow up conversations and activities into their management routines.

  • Promote TMD offerings, including posting banners on jNet, Communication Stations, CommFlash articles, newsletters, distribution of yearly course catalogue, etc.

  • Serve as the LMS and LinkedIn Learning sub-admin for TMD by uploading courses, monitoring attendance, building learning tracks and collections, and related tasks.

  • Create professional-quality slide sets and related materials, as requested, for TMD courses or to advance business goals.

  • Coordinate the continuing education (CE) process for any eligible development offerings. Ensure all requirements are met and files are complete and up to date. Complete and file all reports, as requested.

  • In collaboration with the TMD staff, build the TMD yearly calendar, secure vendors, instructors, and materials. Arrange for physical or virtual class space and serve as a virtual moderator for courses that require it.

  • Collaborate to compile accurate TMD metrics and report out quarterly.

  • Participate in special projects and other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Certificate in adult education, instructional design, distance learning, or related field a plus.

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience of instructional design experience for professional adults using the ADDIE or similar model.

  • Experience working with Storyline, Rise, Zoom, and advanced PowerPoint features. Adobe Suite is useful, but not required.

  • Basic LMS admin experience with SumTotal or another system.

  • Proven experience managing projects using Agile, Waterfall, or similar approach.

  • Comfortable working directly with customers.

  • Trainer experience a plus.

  • Knowledge of emerging instructional techniques and strategies (e.g., mobile learning, JIT training, social learning, etc.) a plus.
