Amazon Systems Engineer, Blink Systems Engineering in North Reading, Massachusetts

Description

As Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for defining, building and supporting the system design, architecture, and software for Blink, Ring and all of Amazon Devices. As a member of our team, you will be interacting closely with the business and cross-functional engineering teams across different organizations to gather engineering requirements, design and implement new features. You are the engineer that other engineers can count on.

Key job responsibilities

  • Be a part of the manufacturing support team answering questions and reactive support for Amazon/Various Contract Manufacturing Networks.

  • Network Support, light cabling, including port configurations supporting engineering.

  • Imaging of stations/laptops to meet the Amazon security requirements.

  • Monitoring of Contract Manufacturing Networks, ensure systems are fully operational.

  • You’ll deliver a great level of service and support to your Amazon Devices customer base.

  • You’ll carry out change management requests (MCMs) as required, which will necessitate out of hours work.

  • You’ll liaise with Systems Engineering and external suppliers to assist in the procurement of hardware, to clearly communicate technical issues and uphold Amazon’s standards, specifically InfoSec.

  • Provide Systems Engineering support and/or input to site-wide manufacturing team projects and initiatives.

  • Proactive management of assets and inventory: you’ll run checks and audits in line with industry standards and processes, including Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA)

  • You’ll document all manufacturing infrastructure issues and maintain a FAQ Wiki Documentation

  • Provide Manufacturing support to senior engineers as required, including some out of hours commitments.

  • Manage and release all test scripts on all Amazon/Devices products. Work with the MFG to debug the new test script for new products and ensure the correct, stable and reliable operation.

  • Create Tickets for the problems encountered in product testing and actively promote the solution of closure problems.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience with physical infrastructure installations including hardware integration, racking, and cabling;

• 3+ years of experience with Linux systems administration;

• Design, build and own major parts of the hardware test infrastructure (configuration and data management systems, cloud and desktop services and applications, web UIs, analytics tools and more)

• Ability to engineer solutions and provide support & solutions in a Linux environment;

Very familiar with Linux commands;

• Write test scripts independently with Python;

• Clear, professional technical writing and communication skills;

• Willingness to work off-hours work is required;

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience deploying services to Amazon's Cloud (Amazon Web Services)

• Flexibility, ability to think on your feet, and strong problem solving skills

• Demonstrated track record dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment

• Prefer hands on experience with AWS, switching, routing, and troubleshooting of enterprise scale network components.
