Purpose of Job Position

The primary purpose of this job position is to provide quality direct nursing care to the residents, ensure quality direct nursing care is being delivered by State-Tested Nursing Assistant, and perform duties as may be directed by your supervisor according to established nursing care policies and procedures and current federal, state and local regulations and guidelines that govern St. Luke and as may be required by the Director of Nursing.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Personnel Functions

  1. Perform all assigned tasks according to St. Luke's established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisor.

     

  2. Ensure that activities and delivery of services help to support the mission of St. Luke Lutheran Community.

     

  3. Direct, monitor and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of State-Tested Nursing Assistants on assigned unit to include daily rounds of your assigned unit; ensure STNA's are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards and St. Luke policy and procedure.

     

  4. Ensure compliance with departmental and facility policy and procedures by assigned nursing personnel.

     

  5. Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes, inservices and orientation programs.

     

  6. Attend departmental meetings, care conferences, unit meetings, etc. when required.

     

  7. Participate in surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as necessary.

     

  8. Perform duties such as completing medical forms, reports, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.

     

  9. Cooperate with residents, families, and other resident services and departments when coordinating nursing services to ensure that the resident's total regimen of care is maintained.

     

  10. Maintain a cooperative working relationship with other department personnel.

     

  11. Place orders for equipment and supplies as necessary and as authorized by the Unit Manager.

     

  12. Give/receive the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours.

     

  13. Complete accident/incident reports, as necessary, on staff, residents, and operational faults.
