Stark State College Fire Program Coordinator in North Canton, Ohio

The Fire Program Coordinator works in the Emergency Services Department under the direction of the department chair. The Fire Program Coordinator is responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development and effectiveness of the Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, Volunteer Firefighter, and all other fire programs associated with the Fire Science field of study. The individual in this position also serves as part-time faculty member. Typical Responsibilities Include: The Fire Program Coordinator must be responsible for all aspects of the program, including the administration, organization, and supervision of the educational program;The continuous quality review and improvement of the educational program;Preparing and approving all documents required to be submitted for Ohio Department of Public Safety Chartering;Attending staff meetings; andPerforming ongoing review and maintaining written evaluation of program content and instructors. To Be Considered You'll Need: To have appropriate fire education, training and safety experience.The ability to obtain an associate degree within 3 semesters of the date of hire.To be knowledgeable about methods of instruction, testing and evaluation of studentsField experience in firefighting.To be knowledgeable about the current versions of NFPA standards and ODPS requirements for Firefighter training programs.To possess a current Firefighter II certification from the Ohio Department of Public Safety.A current Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II certification from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, or obtain certification within 1 semester of date of hire.
