PERSONAL CARE ASSISTANT /CNA

Location: Mercy LIFE Norristown

Status: Full time

Shift: Monday through Friday, 8 – 430 and every other weekend

Incentive: $2500 Sign on Bonus. 1st Day Health Benefits

Position Purpose:

The personal care assistant/worker is responsible for providing various care services necessary for attending to the personal needs, support, and health status of participants.

Position Details:

This position qualifies for a $2500 sign on bonus with a 2-year commitment. The 3 installments are paid out over the two-year commitment period.

This position will primarily involve home care assignments and some work in the center.

What you will do:

  • Engage in ongoing participant assessment and monitoring and report on services provided and the self-care abilities of participant.

  • Provide personal care assistance with activities of daily living, including toileting, showers, eating, and grooming.

  • Assist in the maintenance of physical activity, exercise, and walking.

  • Identification of safety hazards and emergency situations and initiating corrective action as able.

  • Assist with general activities such as conversing with participants, recreation activities, meal and snack serving, and housekeeping.

  • Assist in identifying signs and symptoms indicating physical, emotional, or behavioral change in participants and reporting these signs to the center staff and/or supervisor

  • Escort participants to appointments as necessary.

  • Assist transportation staff with loading and unloading of participants from vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail or elderly population or if less than one (1) year of experience, must receive appropriate training from the PACE organization on working with a frail or elderly population upon hiring.

  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.

  • Experience in a long-term care facility or with a community-based geriatric program preferred.

  • Must be action-oriented, manage conflict well, be customer focused, have high decision quality and flexibility to adapt to ongoing change.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment.

  • Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills appropriate for audience comprehension.

  • Valid driver's license and use of personal vehicle required.

  • Position may require 10% travel within the Centers geographic region and use of personal vehicle.

  • Position requires frequent kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, sitting, walking, bending and lifting. Must be able to push, pull, move and or lift a minimum of 20 pounds if applicable.
