Job Description
The School of Community & Environmental Health at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia invites nominations and applications for a Senior Lecturer in the Environmental Health Program (Undergraduate). The appointment is a 10-month instructional position available July 25, 2024.
The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health. The Environmental Health degree is accredited by the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council. Faculty teach in a variety of areas, such as Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Safety and Health. Candidates are expected to market and build undergraduate enrollment for the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health, as well as serve as the Chief Departmental Advisor and coordinate all student advising and internship assignments for undergraduate students in the program. Teaching requirements include undergraduate level environmental health, occupational safety, and industrial hygiene topics.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
Demonstration of experience in student advising and administration of educational programs.
Demonstrated teaching experience.
Proven ability to communicate and interact constructively with students and faculty.
Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
Applicants must have an earned master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification
Preferred Qualifications
A doctorate in a relevant scientific discipline
Professional certifications in environmental health, industrial hygiene and/or occupational safety and health
Field work and/or laboratory experience within those professions
Prior teaching experience in classroom and distance formats.
