Old Dominion University ( ODU ) invites applications for a full time, ten-month Lecturer position in the Exercise Science Program (https://ww1.odu.edu/eps/departments/hms/academics/exercise) within the College of Health Sciences (https://ww1.odu.edu/hs.html) . The appointment is effective July 25, 2024. The Exercise Science program boasts three state-of-the-art laboratories (Human Performance Lab (https://www.odu.edu/human-performance-lab) , Neuromechanics Lab (https://www.odu.edu/neuromechanics-lab) , and Wellness Institute & Research Center (https://www.odu.edu/wellness-institute) ) and employs 10 full-time core faculty currently. We are committed to maintaining a diverse and stable faculty.
The selected candidate will be expected to provide excellent instruction in 4 undergraduate exercise science courses each Fall/Spring semester and engage in service to the department, college, university, and/or discipline, which may include mentoring students/faculty and/or community engagement. We seek a candidate that provides engaging, organized, and evidence-based instruction in multiple courses including but not limited to:
Introduction to Exercise Science ( EXSC 225);
Care and Prevention of Injuries Related to Physical Activity ( EXSC 240);
Exercise Physiology I ( EXSC 326);
Exercise Physiology II ( EXSC 327);
Nutrition for Fitness and Sport ( EXSC 408);
Biomechanics ( EXSC 417); and
Research Methods in Exercise Science ( EXSC 420).

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate exercise science coursework and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
Candidates must have earned a Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or similar content area by no later than July 25th, 2024.
Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who have earned PhD in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or similar content area by July 25th, 2024 and have evidence of teaching across two or more sub-disciplines (e.g., biomechanics, exercise psychology, exercise physiology).
