Job Opening: Patient Care Pharmacy Technician

Worksite Location: 48 Red Hill Court Newport, PA 17074

Status: Part-Time

Work Schedule: Variable schedule 15-20 hours per week that coincides with the Pharmacy's business hours. (M-F: 9:00am-6:00pm, Saturday: 9:00am -1:00pm)

As a Pharmacy Technician you will be accountable for assisting the pharmacist in providing medical prescriptions and providing patient care.

Typical responsibilities associated with this position are:

  • Fulfilling customer orders: Drop-off/Pick-up, Prescription entry, Third party billing, insurance verification.
  • Patient outreach: Calling on patients regarding order status and scheduling appointments. May also take a lead role in identifying at-risk patients for non-compliance and developing call-out plans.
  • Point of sale transaction Transcribes Physicians orders/prescriptions into electronic medication profiles
  • Maintain patient electronic files, charge files including preparation of physician's order sheets and medication administration aids
  • Maintains, replenishes, and keeps up-to-date RX inventory of medications (to include 340B), accessories, and federally controlled drugs.
  • Point of Sale Register and Drive thru transactions
  • Promotes promotional items and suggestively sale to patients based on pharmacist recommendations
  • Provide Customer Service to patients and Health Care Providers
  • May also take a lead role in identifying patients who are approaching Medicare eligibility and develop communication and education strategies. That can include evaluating Medicare plans to understand claim reimbursement amounts available to the pharmacy and offer patients plan choices that optimize patient ability to use Medicine Shoppe and maximize plan payments
  • May also take a lead role in prior authorizations; obtaining relevant medical records, and communication with patients and health care professionals regarding outcomes and alternatives to successfully obtain coverage.
