Senior Data Analyst/Tech Writer

Overview:

JHNA is currently seeking a talented Senior Data Analyst/Technical Writer to support our Army Aviation government customer at Fort Eustis, VA. This position will require 30% travel to different CONUS Army Test Sites.

In this role you will conduct complex data analysis and write technical reports for S&T projects focused on maturing autonomy, teaming and UAS technologies. A main component of the role will be authoring or supporting the writing of test plans and test reports for S&T test and experimentation events. You will work closely with the program leads, technical experts, and test directors to establish data needs and meaningful metrics for measuring technical progress / state-of-the technology at test and experimentation events.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Determine efficient and effective ways to collect the desired data and rapidly assess it for relevance.

  • Identify data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by performing detailed analysis of the content, structure, and relationships within data.

  • Manage and perform data analysis that involves designing, developing, and utilizing mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques.

  • Develop, write, and edit material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications. Emphasis will be on authoring or supporting the writing of test plans and test reports with input from numerous team members for S&T test and experimentation events.

  • After receiving assignment from supervisor, research information to become familiar with the technologies, systems, and operational environment; observes developmental and experimental activities; collects and analyzes data; and presents information in the clearest way possible, incorporating text, charts, graphs, pictures, etc., as appropriate.

  • Apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts to solve uniquely complex problems.

  • Able to conceptualize and develop solutions, formulate problem statements, and develop analysis methods and approaches.

  • Break down test objectives to write a Data Management and Analysis Plan (DMAP) including metrics creation.

  • Develop test cards used to collect test data from operators that support metrics.

  • Work with vendors to format and collect engineering data used to support test objectives.

  • Work with Government test and technical experts to shape tests to collect data metrics to meet objectives.

  • Perform Data Analyst duties employing currently accepted analysis and data reduction tools; competent using MS Office applications.

  • Analyze, interpret, summarize, and present data effectively.

  • Develop tabular and graphical results from engineering data and observations to support test event findings.

  • Package analytic results in report format as well as in the development and presentation of oral briefings.

  • Write technical reports and brief findings supported by data analysis to Government leadership.

  • Deliver products aligned to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology; and review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, and content.

    Required Qualifications:

  • B achelor's degree (or higher) in a STEM area

  • Formal training in Operation Research and Systems Analysis (ORSA) or Data Science and 5 years of experience in the field (10 years of ORSA / Data Analyst experience may be substituted).

  • 5+ years preparing formal, technical documentation for Government approval.

  • S. citizenship with a DoD SECRET clearance.

  • Knowledge of document configuration management and knowledge management processes and procedures.

  • Perform duties with general supervision, with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products.

    Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and documenting S&T testing.

  • Experience working with UAS or robotic vehicles and related architectures, especially for military applications.

  • Familiarity with Data Item Deliverables, S&T processes, and military aviation systems.
