The Role

The Engineer Systems/Lead Test 4 is a direct report to the Manager 3, Electronics Test AOR within E25 Test Engineering Division.

Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.

1) Work is performed under manager direction toward long and short-range objectives:

  • Works with management to determine and/or establish long-range objectives.

  • Develops reports summarizing project/program results (interim and final) as assigned

  • Makes technical presentations to management and/or customers as assigned

2) Department lead for Land Based Test Facility:

  • Owns and executes the Engineering Process Agreement 01 procedure (attachment 7 for VASCIC)

  • Develops and manages VASCIC lab space plan that supports single and multiple hulls for Test Department initiatives.

  • Evaluate and/or prepare test program schedules and procedures as necessary to support ship.

  • Successful integration of the test program with production activities.

  • Evaluates work in progress to ensure schedule requirements are met with respect to Test Engineering.

3) Department lead for non hull specific corporate and sector related projects

  • Typically the E25 Electronics Test AOR technical procedure review lead

  • Works as a member of a project team(s) to provide Test Engineering expertise.

  • Responsible for making decisions or providing recommendations to achieve major project/program objectives.

  • Performs research and analytical tasks on assigned projects.

  • Generally represents the department as the primary engineering point of contact on advanced projects and/or programs.

  • Works directly with VASCIC lab manager developing short and long range strategies in lab usage as they pertain to Test Department

interests.

  • Technical expertise lends weight to management decisions.

4) Supports boat leads in specific hull initiatives when necessary.

Must Have

An ABET Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience;

Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience;

Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.

Nice to Have

CVN Engineer Lead Test qualification preferred for Surge/Bench capability and start-up of downstream initial CVNs
