About CENTRO: The Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College, is a university-based
research institute whose mission is to produce, facilitate, and disseminate interdisciplinary research about the experiences of Puerto Ricans in the U.S. and to collect, preserve, and provide access to archival and library resources documenting the history and culture of Puerto Ricans. To complement these core
activities, Centro sponsors a year-round program of educational and cultural activities.
About the Position: The Director of Research Programs reports directly to the Center Director. This
position will play a key role in reimagining Centro's existing research programming and developing and fundraising for new initiatives.
• The director will supervise a team of scholars and interns in the development of research products across the humanities and social sciences. The Director will be charged with leading Centro's Data Hub and emerging Public Humanities Lab, as well as coordinating sponsored projects. In addition, the Director of Research Programs will work in partnership with other units in the creation of multimedia content and public programs and workshops.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee all aspects of Centro' s research programs.
• Participate in staff meetings.
• Develop content and programming that highlights research being conducted at Centro.
• Manage research related to sponsored programs.
• Work closely with CENTRO Journal editor and Data Hub Coordinator to align research programming and agendas.
• Develop and implement innovative strategies for fundraising with foundations and government funding agencies.
• Revamp and relaunch CENTRO's public and digital humanities platforms.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required, as well as a thorough knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements and grant and contract management.
Ideal candidates have experience in developing and coordinating large-scale research projects, proven writing and editing skills, and experience in scholarly publishing, and working with faculty and mentoring students at both undergraduate and graduate level.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in in the humanities or the humanistic social sciences
Knowledge and passion for Puerto Rican Diaspora History
Fundraising and Grant writing and management experience
Experience developing and managing long term projects and programming initiatives
Supervision experience
Effective in written communication
Analytical and Creative
Ability to put together informative works into presentations.
Excellent relationship-building skills to create and nurture partnerships with other educators, institutions, and authors.
Able to collaborate with multiple individuals at varying levels.
Experience in Microsoft and Google applications

Participates in short- and long-term planning of research programs that meet academic and institutional priorities
Identifies and analyzes potential funding sources
Oversees grant development activities, policies, and procedures
Reports on the advancement and completion of research projects to senior management and outside organizations
Provides fiscal oversight related to research programs
Oversees compliance with internal and external policies and regulations
Directs professional development, information sharing, and collaborative communications related to research campus-wide
Manages the unit's staff
Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience($100,329- $129,310)
