Job Information

New York Genome Center Postdoctoral Research Associate, Single Cell Epigenomics, Zhu Lab in New York, New York

Dr. Chenxu Zhu's research group at the New York Genome Center (NYGC) and Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) is looking for motivated postdoctoral researchers interested in single-cell genomics and gene regulation. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Chenxu Zhu and collaborators inside and outside of NYGC and WCM, at the intersection of chemical biology, genomics and computational biology.

About the Zhu Lab

The Zhu Lab (https://czhulab.github.io/) develops cutting-edge genomics technologies to study gene regulation in development, aging, and cancer. We integrate approaches spanning chemical biology, molecular biology and computation biology, to design creative tools to analyze the relationships between multiple molecular layers at single-cell level, and to apply these tools to study the combined effects of multiple regulatory inputs to functional outputs during cell fate specification and maintenance. The lab is located at the NYGC; we are part of Department of Physiology and Biophysics and Institute for Computational Biomedicine at WCM.

Position Description

We are looking for postdoctoral scientists to develop innovative genomics technologies for understanding gene regulation mechanisms. The postdoctoral scientist will lead an exciting project to develop single-cell multiomics technologies and also have the opportunities to study gene regulation programs in human diseases with the new tools. The postdoctoral scientist will work closely with the PI on the research program and potential fellowship and grant applications. In addition, we envision that the postdoctoral scientist will play a major role in developing new projects in a supportive team science environment.

To be considered for this role, please provide (1) a CV with a list of publications, (2) a brief summary of your research interests, and (3) a list of three references and their contact information.

About the New York Genome Center

The New York Genome Center (NYGC) is an independent, nonprofit, academic research organization dedicated to advancing genomic research. NYGC scientists and staff are furthering new approaches to diagnosing and treating neurological diseases and cancer through their unique capabilities in whole genome sequencing, RNA sequencing, state-of-the art analytics, and the development of genomic tools. NYGC concentrates specifically on disease-based research in the following areas: neuropsychiatric disease (autism, schizophrenia, bipolar); neurodegenerative disease (ALS, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s), and cancer.

Located in Lower Manhattan, the New York Genome Center was founded by and remains closely affiliated with the leading academic medical centers and research universities in the New York region, engaging in research projects with and for these institutions. Essential to our collaborative work is an outstanding faculty, whose members typically hold a joint appointment at NYGC and a partner university. They support our scientific mission by conducting independent research in areas of mutual interest to us and the wider scientific community.

Equal Opportunity

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to NYGC’s core mission. We strive to create a workplace environment that is welcoming and fair to all regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, or religion.
