Applications are invited for postdoctoral associate positions in the lab of Dr. Cristina Alberini, in the Center for Neural Science at New York University. The positions are on two research areas: 1) the characterization of mechanisms of protein degradation via autophagy and lysosomal targeting in learning and memory using rodent models. These mechanisms will be investigated in both healthy conditions and neuropsychiatric disease models as their elucidation may lead to potential treatments for neurodevelopmental disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. 2) the characterization of mechanisms underlying learning and memory in early development and their influence on adult behavior or predisposition to neuropsychiatric pathologies. Both in vivo rodent models and in vitro human and rodent brain cells will be employed with state-of-the-art technology. Potential collaboration with a Biotech company for drug development.
