Market Risk Oversight Group (MROG) sits within the Global Operational Risk & Oversight (GORO) organization within Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) is responsible for identifying and managing risk across all business units, functions, processes, and geographies at American Express.

MROG is responsible for the independent oversight of interest rate, FX, investment, funding and liquidity risk as well as capital management to ensure that these activities are conducted in accordance with AXP’s Risk Appetite Framework, Management Policies and regulatory expectations.

How will you make an impact in this role?

The Manager/Sr Manager will be reporting to Director – Funding & Liquidity, MROG. Specific responsibilities for the team include:

  • Provide effective challenge to key business decisions and strategies to strengthen funding and liquidity risk management framework based on internal/industry best practices and changing regulatory landscape

  • Perform quantitative/qualitative analysis to identify process gaps and drive insights/recommendations for first line partners

  • Perform independent reviews of key Funding & Liquidity risk management processes, such as Liquidity Stress Testing, Contingency Funding Plan, Funding Strategy and Cash Flow Forecasting and communicates review outcome with first line and third line stakeholders

  • Manage the Funding and Liquidity Risk Appetite Framework (RAF) and support senior management and Committee/Board reporting

In addition, the Manager, Funding and Liquidity Oversight will support the uplift in the liquidity risk management program, as the Company grows from a Category IV to Category III bank and eventually to a Category II bank.

Minimum Qualifications

2-5 Years relevant experience in treasury, finance or risk management

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a risk-reward control perspective

Proactive in identifying issues, delivering and escalating key findings, and advising on recommended solutions to mitigate risks

Ability to think critically and independently, devote significant attention to details, remain highly organized, and clearly communicate complex material to management

Self-motivated, result oriented with a keen sense of meeting deadlines for key milestones

Self-confident with a strong sense of integrity and the ability and willingness to challenge (and be challenged)

Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of financial concepts/ financial markets and prior experience in treasury/finance function a plus

Proficiency in handling data and conducting analytics (experience with platforms and programming languages (e.g. SQL, HIVE/Hadoop, R, Python) is beneficial)

CFA/FRM a plus

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
