CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Gaming Pathways College Laboratory Technician (CLT) will work with the Director of Gaming Pathways and/or the Dean of the Division of Science. The CLT will share active collaboration with all CLTs, college assistants, and lab monitors across the Art Department and IT. The Gaming Pathways CLT will oversee hardware and software for the Digital Game Design plan of study and related course. .. The CLT will be responsible for keeping current with technologies related to digital games while managing equipment, and materials within the Gaming Pathway labs and lounges.

The CLT will be responsible for researching, maintaining, and updating inventory to meet the

Gaming Pathway program’s technological needs and negotiating and acquiring educational grant licenses and updates for additional software needs, for administering lab usage tutorials, facilitating student dialogue on the function and workflow of the Gaming Pathway labs, hiring and overseeing student lab monitors, and helping students, faculty, and staff troubleshoot tools and software for successful in-person and remote-access learning. TheCLT will serve as gallery point person for design exhibitions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of experience in a computer lab and digital printing/output center, or a certificate from an information technology program and prior experience as a computer lab technician; prior experience with multi-workstation environments and file servers with ability to diagnose and repair related hardware and software problems; knowledge with Unix command-line interface for maintaining computers.

  • Experience with technical aspects of printing/digital output; secondary competencies in photography or video; experience with web development and deployment tools; familiarity with classroom-based software is preferred.

  • Candidate should have strong interpersonal skills, organizational ability with attention to detail,and strong written and oral communication. Experience with grant writing, art exhibitioninstallation, and a background or degree in gaming or design is a plus.

COMPENSATION

$47,509-$74,430

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
