POSITION DETAILS
The Finance Manger is responsible for performing highly specialized accounting work required to maintain Hunter’s general ledger. Working under the direction of the Accounting & Business Affairs Director, The Finance Manger directs and coordinates daily accounting activities to record the revenues, expenditure, assets, and liabilities of Hunter College, quickly and accurately. The incumbent is also responsible for preparing annual financial statements and coordinating Hunter’s annual audits.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Teams up with cross-functional teams to design and implement new and improved financial reports across Hunter College; communicates all upcoming procedural changes.
• Works closely with the Director to improve Internal controls, existing financial policies, and reporting.
• Develops relationship with key managers by providing value added guidance to assist with financial reporting.
• Provides complexed financial analysis and technical assistance to the Director with daily accounting activities required to maintain general ledger.
• Assesses, directs, and reviews the accounting functions (including, but not limited to, cash reconciliations, investment account reconciliation, accounts receivable transactions, fixed asset activity, accounts payable transactions, recording of revenue and expenses).
• Resolves complex accounting issues or assists other personnel in resolving financial issues.
• Produces routine journal entries and monthly account bank reconciliations.
• Manages and tracks the performance of invested assets and enforce compliance with policies and investment guidelines.
• Reviews for accuracy, completeness of documentation, and proper coding of all account payable transactions, including payments to vendors.
• Under direction, ensure that releases from restricted funds are properly executed and are consistent with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Performs ongoing financial analysis, financial modeling, and reporting, as directed.
• Serves as resource expert on the annual audit; liaisons with auditors and other internal and external agencies to ensure accurate reporting of related entities.
• Prepares semiannual and annual financial statements; reports on a variance.
• Analyzes revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis in accordance with GAAP and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
• Contribute to the preparation of tax returns (990 & 990-T), IRS Form 1099, and other corporate filings.•
• Provides General Ledger reports and other ad hoc projects as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required. An advanced degree can be used to substitute for up to 2 years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Higher Education
Working knowledge of PeopleSoft and MS Office
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
A multi-tasker with strong ability to work under pressure

Prepares and manages production of statistical/analytical reports pertinent to financial and operational activities
Assists in developing budgeting policies and procedures, and interprets University-wide policy
Liaisons with auditors and other internal and external agencies as necessary
May negotiate contracts
May hire, supervise and train finance and/or clerical staff and manage related administrative functions
Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience ($90,375 - $96,602).
