Yeshiva University Director of Chinuch Track, Semikha Program in New York, New York

Position Summary:

The Director of Chinuch Track, Semikha Program will work with the Director of Semikha and Director of Professional Rabbinics to consider the unique needs of students interested in school-based careers. The Director will meet individually or in small groups with students considering or preparing for roles in Chinuch to provide guidance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Meet individually or in small groups with students considering or preparing for roles in chinuch to provide guidance
  • Work with the Director of Semicha and the Director of Professional Rabbinics to consider the unique needs of students interested in school-based careers
  • Teach or co-teach one course per semester at RIETS focused on applied pedagogy and curriculum development in Judaic studies (in conjunction with Azrieli)
  • Coordinate campus visits and programs with teachers and school leaders from the field
  • Design and oversee implementation of chinuch fellowships for RIETS students considering working in schools
  • Oversee and liaise with year-long partner "kollel"/beis midrash program for senior RIETS students at North Shore, Frisch, and other potential sites
  • Support graduating students through their process of applying for jobs
  • Develop, maintain, and leverage relationships with relevant institutions and professionals in the field of Jewish education to inform student preparation and guidance
  • Recruit students to consider careers in chinuch and continue their learning at RIETS

Experience & Educational Background:

  • Semikha from RIETS or another accredited rabbinical program
  • 5+ years working one-on-one with university or high school students
  • 5+ years building curricula
  • 5+ years recruiting for rabbinic roles

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build relationships with college and rabbinical students
  • Strong writing background
  • Good at networking

Salary Range

$65,000 - $65,000
