Job Description

We are hiring for an exciting new opportunity as part of our Health Informatics team within DigITs, MSK’s enterprise IT organization. Health Informatics partners with MSK patients, clinicians, operations, and clinical researchers to plan and advance the use of digital technologies that accelerate care delivery and discovery. We do this by connecting DigITs with the rest of MSK. We align tech solutions with institutional goals and values and ensure that investments in digital technology provide clear, measurable value.

Within Health Informatics, TheDirector, Health Informaticswill report to the Chief Medical Informatics Officer, and serve as a key strategic partner to executive sponsors within assigned customer segments. They will drive systemic thinking about technology to influence best practices and cost-effective solutions. They will have broad organizational impact, using their domain-level expertise and leadership experience to serve as a bridge between these stakeholders and colleagues within DigITs.

You will:

Enterprise Sponsor & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead as a strategic partner with expertise and understanding of customer segments, including business goals, MSK strategy alignment, and budgetary considerations.

  • Establish and maintain proactive relationships as a trusted advisor to the most senior levels of leadership on technology solutions.

  • Cultivate relationships with a variety of MSK stakeholders to understand and support their dynamics, organizational structure and goals.

  • Collect, understand, and prioritize organizational requests, and serve as a strong advocate for stakeholder needs.

  • Anticipate and recognize when technology changes have high impact on the organization and assist with change management to maximize benefits, minimize operational disruption, and maintain stakeholder confidence and goodwill.

  • Partner with and influence DigITs internal leaders and stakeholders to ensure appropriate prioritization of resources and planning, in support of MSK’s digital strategy.

  • Generally, serve as a trusted delegate for DigITs across assigned customer segment(s).

    Digital Strategy (Development, Consultation, and Evaluation)

  • Apply a sophisticated understanding of digital solutions and products, MSK strategy, and deep domain understanding of customer segments to enable the development of digital strategy recommendations and solutions for enterprise sponsors.

  • Formulate digital strategy in domain area, develop corresponding technology roadmaps, and conduct ongoing (re)alignment with enterprise sponsors.

  • Perform advanced consultation on process and system design of complex informatics solutions for the organization.

  • Ensure value delivery by surveilling and evaluating external (state of the art) and internal technology approaches.

  • Develop and maintain external collaborative network for domain expertise segment.

  • Use domain knowledge to inform, negotiate, and influence decision making to feed MSK strategy and define the digital strategy.

  • Consider the financial landscape of the institution and customer segment to make recommendations and influence financial decisions to develop strategy for optimal ROI.

  • Conduct data-driven analysis of both internal and external technology and clinical landscape to deliver strategically aligned technology solutions across customer segments and the broader enterprise.

    People Leadership

  • Manage the activity of direct reports and ensure resources and assignments are consistent with institutional objectives and financial plans.

  • Guide, mentor, and elevate the overall skills and proficiency of direct reports.

  • Build and promote a culture of collaboration and positive work environment, both within Health Informatics and on cross-collaborative teams.

  • Serve as support and back up coverage of manager and peers in relevant Informatics activities at MSK as assigned.

    You have:

  • 10+ years of professional staff management experience and domain expertise in Health IT and Clinical Informatics including organizational areas outside of a single department.

  • Clinical training/MD experience in Med Onc/Surg Onc valued and desired for this role

  • Demonstrated track record in strategic technology business planning and proven success mentoring and developing staff

  • Deep expertise with modern, leading, large-scale Electronic Health Record Systems

  • A desire to embrace a culture of excellence, collaboration and communication within DigITs, and to serve as a trusted and respected role model and delegate of IT across MSK
