Core Responsibilities

  • The Central Engineering organization is seeking to hire a highly dedicated and motivated individual to join the Asset Management Department in the Investment Strategy section. The ideal candidate will play a major role in the development of Central Operations long term capital strategy.

  • The Investment Strategy Associate Engineer will perform cost/benefit and other economic analysis on capital programs and projects to help determine the optimal solutions for equipment and infrastructure investments.

  • Create concise and well-written business cases for Central Operations capital programs and projects.

  • Help identify, qualify, quantify, and document required business needs and strategize potential investment opportunities for Central Operations organizations.

  • Assist with the development of scope boundaries, concepts and estimates to compare various project solutions.

  • Assist in the maintenance of the Transmission Probabilistic Risk Assessment model and all source coding on the Asset Management server. Experience with C#, python, database preferred.

  • Create/maintain asset health indexes for all in-program asset types; development and maintenance of an Area Station Health Index.

  • Assist with the development of Asset Management Plans (AMPs) for all major equipment types and interface with discipline engineers, equipment engineers, project/program managers, substation personnel, and operating area personnel to understand and address equipment issues through capital expenditure.

  • Have a solid understanding of the capital budgeting process and fundamental financial analysis skills.

  • Provide input and support for the development of the 5-year Central Operations capital plan, as well as offer input and back-up for regulatory filings and rate cases.

  • Provide input into equipment performance indicators and health indices, especially projections and forecasts.

  • Participate on industry teams for asset management.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and Bachelor's Degree required with a preferred major in engineering and with a strong focus on mathematics and statistical analysis. At least 2 years' work experience and minimum of 1 year engineering experience is required.

Relevant Work Experience

  • At least 2 years' work experience and minimum of 1 year engineering experience is required.

  • Requires strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel on all levels.

  • Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee projects.

  • Supervisory experience of management and union employees is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of Maximo, Datasplice and OSI-PI software platforms is preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

  • Other: Institute of Asset Management (IAM) Preferred

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.

  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout the Company service territory.

  • Must be willing and able to wear the required PPE as needed.

  • Must be willing and able to work in the vicinity of live electricity, high voltage equipment, pressurized gas, pressurized steam and/or public utility buildings and facilities.

  • Must be able to detect traffic sounds, alarms and backup warning devices when working near traffic, around moving equipment and within substations and buildings.

  • Must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions.

  • Must be willing and able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces, on roofs, around noise, high heat, and on elevations.
