Johnson Controls Sr Screw Compressor Engineer in New Freedom, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 20464792 Senior Engineer The senior engineer will support the Manager of Screw Compressor Engineering by providing in house technical support and guidance for projects. Responsibilities for the position includes working with other senior members of the team, providing technical support to purchasing and manufacturing, legacy product support, and new product development and implementation

Primary Responsibilities:

Maintain understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles and processes related to mechanical and electrical aspects of screw compressors.

Model compressor performance under various operating conditions using physics and mechanical models and test data.

Has proficiency in mechanical design and be able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product

Prepare and help execute test programs to verify performance and reliability of mechanical and electrical sub-components of compressors

Analyzes, designs, modifies and/or troubleshoots mechanical sub-components and sub-systems based on test data

Coordinate in compressor prototype builds, qualification of samples and customer samples

Generates technical documentation and writes technical documents for use within the company

Initiates test lab data reduction and design of experiments, work closely with test labs to execute plans

Possesses knowledge of manufacturing processes and applies the philosophy of designing to standard manufacturing processes

Provide comparative evaluation of potential future compressor designs

Defines, plans and promotes a complex project into several routine smaller ones

Reports on the status of the projects

Provide clear technical direction to designers drafters and review complex 3D models

Initiates product improvement and cost reduction activities

Assist in return compressor evaluation and disposition of parts

Provides technical support to purchasing

Provides technical support for the plant relative to assembly and test process

Provides manufacturing support to other entities within the company

Contributes to the on-time completion of programs and reports on the status of assigned projects

Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global multi-cultural product development environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Qualified candidate must have a good understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles and processes related to mechanical and electrical aspects of compressors.

He or she must be proficiency in mechanical design and be able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product.

BS in Engineering or related science or equivalent

Minimum 4 Years' experience in screw and centrifugal compressor design and/or manufacturing, or related experience with other fixed displacement/centrifugal compressors.

Experience with programing languages like visual basic, python etc.

Experience with modeling tools FEA, CFD preferred

Experience in a design and product development environment

Strong understanding of acoustics and vibration.

Basic understanding of fundamental business knowledge

Strong Personal Computing ability with capabilities in MS Office Suite, etc.

Successful candidate should have good skills in working with others, and will be expected to interface regularly with other design engineers, manufacturing, service and purchasing.

Moderate domestic and international travel is required.
