Microsoft Corporation Senior Technical Content Writer in Multiple Locations, United States

Microsoft's Commerce + Ecosystems (C+E) Commerce team is looking for a Senior Technical Content Writer to enable an easier experience for customers and partners to grow, as well as to buy and do business with us by delivering a dependable, safe, and secure commerce infrastructure. The Ecosystems team is committed to driving discovery and awareness of Microsoft within our ecosystem of products and services, as well as reaching technical communities around the globe.

This role will join the Application Development (AppDev) content team to lead the planning and creation of end-to-end content about developing applications that use AI and ML technologies on Azure. In this role, you will identify, plan, prioritize, and write the trusted end-to-end developer content our customers want and need most. You will collaborate with product engineering teams, cloud advocates, writers, and other stakeholders to understand our customer goals and deliver documentation, code samples, training, and other content.

As part of the Ecosystems business within C+E, the Skilling organization skills the workforce of today and tomorrow by providing a single, coherent, online platform that enables Microsoft to bring content and experience to customers to enable them to learn, grow, and adopt Microsoft technology. Learners can gain new skills, solve problems, and connect with other technologists through access to technical documentation, training, Q&A. They can also discover architectural guidance, frameworks, and code samples to help them make the most of Microsoft technology. We make these resources available through 1st party in-product integrations, 3rd party experiences, at events and through channels.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage your technical expertise to write new and update existing content to support developers who are building AI and ML-based applications for Azure using Python, Java, JavaScript, and C#/.NET.

  • Develop a variety of types of technical documentation on https://learn.microsoft.com , including introductory, conceptual, instructional, reference, and troubleshooting content.

  • Verify accuracy of your content, while also ensuring it is understandable and usable by people with varying degrees of experience with the products & services we support.

  • Build and leverage relationships with product engineering teams and marketing to learn about new or updated features & product roadmaps, to understand customer goals and pain points, enlist contributions from them, and to align on the content plans you develop.

  • Monitor content metrics and customer feedback, derive insights, and maintain documentation quality to meet content performance targets.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in writing, content design, information technology (IT), or coding/programming

  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years experience in writing, content design, information technology (IT), or coding/programming

  • OR Technical Certification or Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, English, Writing, Journalism, Communications or related field AND 4+ years experience in writing, content design, information technology (IT), or coding/programming

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Proficiency with oneor moreofthese programming languages: Python, JavaScript, Java.

  • 3+ years project and/or experience.

  • 5+ years experience in a related technical domain.

  • Experience working with Git, GitHub as a content management system, and Markdown.

  • 1+ years of Cloud industry experience with scenarios including application development, provisioning, and monitoring.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure services, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with AI and ML technologies, and knowledge of key generative AI concepts such as vector stores, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG).

Technical Writing IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
