Google Technical Writer, AdMob in Mountain View, California

This role may also be located in our Playa Vista, CA campus.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4 years of experience creating content for technical audiences (e.g., developer documentation, Computer Science course material, or IT administration playbooks).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in writing, engineering, or scientific-related field.

  • 2 years of experience with technical writing or as an Information Architect or Content Strategist.

  • 2 years of experience leading projects, initiatives, or teams.

  • Experience researching and writing documentation for DevOps practitioners and/or developers (e.g., APIs, SDKs, web technologies).

  • Experience working with engineers and product managers as part of the software development process.

  • Knowledge of HTML, with additional prerequisites for certain roles.

Technical writers plan, create, and maintain educational content as an integral part of the engineering or user experience. The content is often in the form of documentation, but may also be UI text, sample code, videos, or other educational material. Regardless of the content medium, technical writers are distinguished by their abilities to explain complex topics in a way that’s useful to their audience.

As a Technical Writer, you will be part of product development, confidently managing a variety of interests while interacting with Engineers, Product Managers, UX, and localization. You will learn how they work and how they fit into the online ads ecosystem.

In this role, you will work proactively to create clear, detailed, lively educational content to help Google AdMob publishers reach their advertising goals. Our team has a growth mindset and is always looking for new ways to expand educational impact in the product.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000-$185,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Manage the production, publication, and localization of high-quality help content.

  • Distill complex technical concepts and procedures into clear, readable summaries.

  • Identify user needs, represent our users, and leverage use cases and metrics to focus priorities and develop documentation solutions.

  • Collaborate with Engineers, Product Experts, Trainers, UX designers, and UX writers to ensure accurate help content, deliver timely updates, and contribute clear learning paths for all types of users.
