Position Title: DIRECTOR CATERING SERVICES-CA

Salary: $100,000-$130,000/annually

Working as a Director of Catering Services for a portfolio, you are a leader of leaders, specifically within the realm of catering and events. You will manage a diverse team, spread across multiple campuses and time zones. It is the responsibility of this role to ensure that the teams consistently deliver a high level of hospitality and service, within each style of catering and event service provided.

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to all sites within the portfolio to ensure the site catering leaders are running their operation according to standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance.

  • Build and strengthen relationships with the C-Suite EAs, the greater population of EAs, and various large scale, multi-site and VIP event hosts to achieve long-term confidence, trust and consumer delight.

  • Provide ongoing guidance and mentorship, performance evaluations and career development for the catering leads at each site within the portfolio.

  • Coordinate multi-site events in conjunction with all catering site leads.

  • Create synergies in guest experience where possible.

  • Ask leading event execution questions to teach each team member to thoroughly plan for each detail and exigency.

  • Collect and internally communicate all information on service and consumer impacts, then collaborate with comms to create streamlined and informative messaging.

  • Manage the catering PO invoicing process for all applicable events from start to finish.

  • Stay current on changes in the catering landscape in order to develop and implement fresh and new initiatives, concepts, and displays as our internal catering service standards.

  • Work in partnership with peers and leadership to create dynamic catering menus that are competitive with the external market, acknowledge food trends, and offer variety for dietary needs.

  • Cultivate event planning and design expertise in all of the site team leaders.

  • Remain actively involved in the development of catering staff in-service techniques, menu presentation, policies, and procedures.

  • Audit custom event costs and profit margins to ensure proper capture of food costs, paper products, labor, and auxiliary decor or vendor fees.

  • Identify and attend key events to nurture relationships, support the site teams and gain insight into opportunities for development.

  • Support all large scale or multi-site events in-person as deemed most appropriate.

  • Host post-event recap meetings with direct team who executed the event and with the greater team of catering site leaders to share best practices, lessons learned and opportunities for evolution.

  • As applicable, actively engage in reputation management and service recovery to insure the best possible outcome.

  • Nurture and build relationships with small business vendors, and various industry contacts.
