Richmond Community Services Nurse Supervisor - FT in Mount Kisco, New York

Essential Job Functions Assumes responsibility for the scheduling, management and clinical direction of the nursing staff and AMAP staff on assigned shift. Ensures adequate staff coverage across shifts. Prioritizes and delegates job tasks and monitors productivity of staff to ensure timely and accurate completion of required work.
Ensures that proper nursing and medication administration procedures are carried out in accordance with standard nursing practices. Initiates investigations for any and all reported incidents. Ensures that a Person Centered Planning approaches, or other relevant philosophies embraced by Richmond are incorporated into service delivery. Evaluates, by visual observation and verbal inquiry, the quality of care provided by assigned staff, and assesses the physical and emotional condition of each individual. Initiates investigations of any reported incidents. Communicates substandard job performance of staff on assigned shift, in writing or verbally, to appropriate supervisory personnel. In conjunction with the appropriate Manager, administers discipline in accordance with Richmond policies.
Interviews and participates in the hiring of nurses and AMAP staff. Participates in the performance appraisal process by providing input to the Manager and/or Assistant Manager(s). Also responsible for completing performance appraisals for per diem nurses who work primarily on the same assigned shift. Keeps abreast of nursing trends by attending professional conferences. Communicates relevant new information, as appropriate within the Agency, and incorporates same to practice and service delivery. Represents the Agency at Job Fairs, as assigned.
Identifies training needs and facilitates or coordinates in-services as indicated for nursing and/or direct care staff. This includes demonstrating and observing proper methods/procedures and providing coaching and support. Meets regularly with respective shift nurses/medication technicians to identify and resolve problems, disseminate information, etc. Meets regularly with the Nursing Coordinator to discuss issues, recommendations, and future planning. Assumes responsibility for the facility site during holiday, evening, night and weekend hours. Responds to health care related emergencies at other Richmond sites (if on-call nurse is not available) and provides telephone triage, as needed during on-duty shifts. Participates in various Agency committees, as assigned, and presents nursing perspectives and issues. Ensures adequate supplies, medicine and equipment are ordered and available for the Agency, and that Maintenance Request Forms are completed for the repair of faulty Richmond equipment. Makes recommendations regarding the Individual Program Plan (IPP), for each individual served, to the designated QIDP to ensure consistent and appropriate delivery of services. Ensures communication of relevant information or service needs verbally and/or in writing, to all appropriate staff, families, or outside facilities involved in the care of Richmond individuals or respite guests.

Qualifications & Minimum Requirements Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing with a current New York State Registered Nurse License required. Bachelor of Science Degree preferred. Prior Experience: 3 years nursing experience required, with Pediatrics and/or Medical Surgical experience preferred.
Experience working with a developmentally disabled population preferred. Two years supervisory experience required.
