ASM Global Catering Sales Manager in Mobile, Alabama

JOB TITLE: Catering Sales Manager

DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage

REPORTS TO: Food & Beverage Director

FLSA STATUS: Salaried / Exempt

SAVOR…the leading food service provider located at the Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center, the Mobile Civic Center, and the Saenger Theater; ASM Global managed venues, has an immediate opening for the full-time position of Catering Sales Manager.

Summary

The Catering Sales Manager oversees the selling, planning and implementation of all catering food service for catering events by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Understand and effectively communicate all ASM Global policies and procedures to the Client.

  • Responsible for all catered event sales. Create and confirm final food & beverage invoice for each event.

  • Develop and execute action plans that will guide both routine and special events toward established sales goals.

  • Monitor bookings and changes in the booking software and coordinate set-up of food & beverage requirements with event services and catering managers.

  • Produce Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s), which include all information needed on upcoming events and submit to necessary individuals.

  • Attend in-house event-related meetings and relay immediate changes with other departments.

  • Works closely with the Director of Sales to bridge the Sales and Food & Beverage Departments.

  • Assist clients with menu selection through the aid of the Executive Chef to ensure the menu is within the client’s budget and meets the standard of SAVOR.

  • Work closely with Sales and Event Services to continually bring in new clients and maintain existing customer base.

  • Participate in site visits, building tours and plan meetings for groups.

  • Attend weekly sales and BEO meetings and submit weekly sales reports to DOS.

  • Introduce prospective clientele to the variety of items and services offered and design events exclusively for clients based on their wants and needs.

  • Follow-up with any prospective clientele through phone calls and written communication.

  • Ensure that client submits guarantee prior to event based on guidelines of contract

  • Display quality customer service at all times and follow through with customer complaints.

  • Be onsite for high profile catering events to welcome client while exhibiting stellar customer relations.

  • Position is hands on with staff and customer interaction during events, if required.

  • Serve as Manager on Duty, as needed.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Four+ years of management experience in a banquet facility servicing meals for large events.

Previous experience in food sales or similar environment preferred.

Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of food service industry

Knowledge of sales

Excellent customer service skills as well as attention to detail

Excellent ability to communicate effectively with varied groups and individuals written and orally

Excellent organizational, planning, and inter-personal skills

Effective supervisory skills

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software including Microsoft Excel and Word as well as Outlook.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

ServSafe certification preferred.

Other Qualifications

Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines

Ability to work under minimal supervision

Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends in addition to normal business hours

Must have professional attitude and appearance
