Are you looking to make an impact on the physical, emotional and cultural needs of patients and their families? Join our team as a Post Partum RN in the Birthplace at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital!

We support not only women in our culturally diverse community, but also support women across the state whom may need additional attention due to a high risk pregnancy or fetal diagnosis.

With our partnership with the University of MN, the Birthplace supports the development of student nurses and residents through onsite observation and training. This addition also helps continue to improve our evidence based practice and ongoing professional learning!

Newborn Family Care Center-Postpartum:

  • 24 beds Mom/Baby private rooms

  • Couplet Care, average of 3 couplets day/evening shift, 4 couplets night shift.

  • Care delivery team: RN and NST/NA.

  • Professional growth encouraged in professional certifications and/or IBCLC.

  • Inpatient Lactation Consultant on unit.

  • Newborn IV antibiotic administration.

This position will be working 48 hours every two weeks on the night shift, 12 hour shifts. This is a 8 and 12 hr position. Candidate will have the ability to work 8 hours during the week and 12 hours every third weekend.

Responsibilities Job Description

  • Provides postpartum care for the newly delivered mother and her newborn infant.

  • Manages complex medication and infusion therapies

  • Performs advanced monitoring using current technology

  • Care for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit.

  • Demonstrates ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2 years of OB or Med/Surg RN experience

  • MN RN license

  • Current NRP Certification for candidates with OB experience OR attain NRP certification within 6 months of hire

  • BLS for healthcare providers

Preferred:

  • BSN
