UMPhysicians Radiology Technologist - Interventional (Clinics & Surgery Center) - Full Time in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Under the direction of the Interventional Radiologist/Physician, the technologist prepares patients for procedures, verifies orders and patient history to ensure appropriateness of exam/procedure. Technologist performs diagnostic procedures including complex vascular and nonvascular interventional and therapeutic procedures. The Interventional Radiology Technologist is intimately familiar with sterile procedures including preparation and maintaining a sterile field during procedures,adheres to standard precautions at all times, participates as a vital member of a multi-disciplinary care delivery team consisting of interventional radiologists, physician assistants, nurses, and technologists, and supports ambulatory care services. Interventional Radiology Technologist Overview Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: 1.Prepares patients for interventional procedures by confirming physician orders, verifying patient identities, and obtaining adequate medical histories to ensure the appropriateness of examinations/procedures and facilitate timely accurate diagnosis or treatment of the patient. 2. Performs diagnostic/therapeutic radiology procedures on all patient age groups. Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, standards, and protocols to ensure effective departmental operations and delivering quality patient care. Produces high quality diagnostic images using a wide variety of imaging modalities and sends exams to PACS archiving. 3. Circulates within procedure room and procures all equipment needed for any given procedure. Maintains a sterile field during interventional procedures, following principles of aseptic technique, and adheres to standard precautions at all times. Minimum Qualifications: Associate Degree in Radiation Technology.
