Job Designation

The Engineer I, Manufacturing provides a range of manufacturing issues to support and improve the manufacturing capabilities to produce products. Contributes to improving a range of fabrication processes that can directly impact the sustaining and growth efforts of operations. Participates in the introduction of new products to the manufacturing and supply chain environment. The primary function of this position is to provide engineering support directly to the manufacturing floor. The individual in this position is responsible for sustainable results in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth for their assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Job Core Responsibilities

• Provides expertise in developing a range of engineering solutions to improve the manufacture of new and existing Parker Meggitt products.

• Improves current production processes to manufacture products, using applicable methods and procedures.

• Participates in developing and maintaining documentation for processes and designs, creates and maintains accurate manufacturing outlines, bill of materials, and manufacturing routers.

• Trouble shoot existing manufacturing processes, non-conforming parts, fixtures, tooling, and equipment with a high sense of urgency.

• Design, build, or procure improved fixtures, tooling, and equipment.

• Utilization of learned PLS principles to promote and implement continuous improvement focused on the elimination of waste in all areas, Kaizen leadership.

• Collect root cause data to develop, own, and solve issues adversely affecting performance in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth.

• The ability to interface with design engineering and marketing managers in order to provide low-cost, high-quality product to enable market segment growth.

• Work with Cell Leader and Value Stream associates within area(s) of responsibility to identify opportunities for improvement and drive the execution of countermeasures to address.

• Participate in the design and transfer-to-production process. Advise the design team of profitability and manufacturability issues while identifying the processes to be utilized in producing new product.

• Active and engaged participation on the Material Review Board (MRB).

• Develop an understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work.

• Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions

• The primary duties in this job require analysis, interpretation or deductions from facts, available information and data. Requirements involve the comparison and the evaluation of possible results or solutions after considering various possibilities and making recommendations and/or decisions accordingly using professional judgment.

• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering required

Years' Experience: 1 -3 years of relevant experience

Skills:

• Excellent ability to apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving.

• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement.

• Ability to explain a range of complex technical information.

• Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools.

• Strong organizational skills: ability to drive results; continual learner.

• Passionate about problem-solving and working with interdisciplinary teams.

• Demonstrated adaptability and collaboration skills.
