Position Description
The operations supervisor is the essential leader responsible for resourcing, organizing, scheduling, and tracking all daily operations within the terminal. Primary focus is direct leadership of team members and management of the facilities operating environment. This includes but is not limited to the oversight of all operational activities, performance management of team members, ensuring terminal and team member(s) safety, driving quality control, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing excellent customer interaction service.
On a daily basis, plan, resource and execute work and staff assignments to meet customer expectations and operational requirements as assigned by Terminal Manager
Assist in the development of short and long-range plans, goals, and objectives for operations and maintenance
Ability to train new and current team members on all operational aspects of the terminal
Manages and ensures completion of all assigned OPSINFO and other scheduled tasks across area of responsibility
Assists in investigating accidents and "near misses"
Assist in coordinating with crews on the receiving, unloading and loading of vessels and railcars
Ability to positively interact with customers and respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner
Ability to take initiative and work with team members to accomplish defined goals in a fast-paced environment
Maintain adherence to USCG and OSHA regulations as well as various other guidelines, standards, and company operating procedures
Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent, or 4 year college degree with 1 year supervisory experience
Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills and abilities: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position Experience/Specific Knowledge:
Must have prior experience operating heavy equipment to include front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and conveyors. A minimum of 5 years of experience operating a front-end loader is required
Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating in a bulk environment to include receiving vessels, loading trucks, unloading rail cars
Must pass and complete safety training/certifications as required by customers and Kinder Morgan
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Competencies, Skills, and Abilities: Physical Demands: Working Conditions:
Must be able to work various hours outside of scheduled shift to meet the demands of the business
Must be able to respond to emergencies when necessary
Must be able to split time between field and office environments during daily operations
Must be able to work in weather extremes, both heat and cols
Supervisory Responsibility:
Supervising hourly, non-union operations in a field environment
Mentor team members to achieve established goals and objectives
