NURSING CLINICAL LEADER

Job Description:

Beth Israel Deaconess Milton is seeking a Nursing Clinical Leader.

This position is (3) 12 hour shifts. 72 hours per pay period, every other weekend requirement holiday rotation.

POSITION FUNCTION:

The Nursing Clinical Leader will be responsible for the smooth-flowing operation of the hospital, acting as a mentor and Clinical expert.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the direction of the Director of Emergency and Patient Care Services supervises nurses in carrying out their responsibilities in the management of patient care.

  • Coordinates the activity of nursing personnel and other departments' personnel as appropriate.

  • Analyzes staffing requirements, assigns personnel, calls in replacement personnel or authorizes overtime as needed.

  • Reassigns personnel as appropriate and assists in the evaluation and/or discipline process for assigned personnel.

  • Resolves conflicts or problems that may develop or refers to administrative officer on duty as appropriate.

  • Functions as resource person to in-house nursing personnel on issues involving nursing practice, standards, policy and procedure, as either the individual who has competency in the area or knowledge of how to obtain that individual.

  • Communicates effectively with the medical staff regarding issues pertinent to patient care which require discussion and/or resolution.

  • Communicates pertinent clinical and management issues to the oncoming supervisor as well as documenting such information on the administrative report and the action taken. Promotes effective interdepartmental and intradepartmental communications.

  • Responsible for scheduling, maintaining ANSOS and HHPD per shift.

  • Acts as a bed facilitator for the hospital for inta -facility and interfaculty transfers

  • Participate in oversight of nursing orientation

  • In conjunction with the Nurse Manager actively participate in hiring and onboarding of new RN’s

  • Engages in leadership rounding

  • Provide support for monitoring of Competence requirements and license requirements of staff

  • Participate in budgetary oversight and review and report HPPD

  • Acts as a clinical Support to staff

  • Works collaboratively with the Education team

  • Participates in the development of goals and objectives for the Nursing Department as appropriate. Reviews nursing practices, standards, policies and procedures and makes

  • Excellent skills using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Performs all duties in accordance with safety and other laws, rules and regulations as set forth by appropriate regulatory and governmental agencies and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policy and procedure.

  • Attends and/or participates in in-house or outside training programs to improve and augment skills and knowledge.

  • May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the Director.

The nature of the tasks/responsibilities required of employees in this position will likely expose them to blood and body fluids. Employees will be oriented to and required to understand and follow the standard precautions for infection control. QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education: BSN , BLS, ACLS through the American Heart Association

Preferred Education: MSN Education

Work Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience in an acute care setting, One year of management/ supervisory experience preferred
