Carnival Cruise Line Learning Systems Manager in Miami, Florida

Job Description

The Manager, Learning Systems, is responsible for the planning, implementation, and administration of learning management systems and other technology platforms designed to support employee development and training programs across ship and shore audiences. This role ensures that the organization's learning systems are efficient, effective, and aligned with its overall learning and development strategy. They will manage a learning systems team to ensure the learning environment supports training outcomes within the training governance framework and creates positive learner experiences, meets compliance needs and provides for high quality learner support.

Essential Functions:

  • LMS Administration: Oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Learning Management Systems (LMS) across ship and shore. Ensure systems are user-friendly, functional, and up to date with relevant content and features. Perform routine LMS business process audits and checks, and compile performance metrics. Facilitate meetings and ensure ongoing communication with HR leaders regarding the LMS environment and integrated products/processes. Use data to make recommendations for improvements and optimizations. Actively participate in training and quality audits and provide system reports as needed. Generate and monitor system reports to measure the optimum utilization of the LMS.

  • Content Management: Collaborate with the instructional designers and subject matter experts to develop, organize, and [AL(1] deploy training content into the LMS. Ensure the quality, relevance, and accessibility of training materials [AL(2] . Test the functionality, rules, and accessibility of training materials before course deployment. Follow due governance processes, including ticketing and maintain accurate records of system setups and registration rules. Work with COE to [AL(3] understand training requirements and align systems to support those needs. Monitor and report on the progress and effectiveness of training programs as needed. Maintain training modules in various HRIS, or other systems (e.g. CPS), as needed.

  • Learner Support & Training: Troubleshoot technical issues and provide support to users as needed. Provide training and support to users, including learning support helpdesk, employees, and instructors, to maximize the utilization of the LMS. Ensure efficiency and efficacy of the learning support desk by developing SLAs, monitoring and constantly reviewing processes and issues for improvements. Partner with IT, application teams and other stakeholders to troubleshoot technical issues promptly and effectively.

  • System Integration: Collaborate with IT and [AL(4] other application teams on system integrations with other systems, as needed, to ensure seamless delivery, data accuracy, collection, and synchronization. Ensure that analytical teams have access to and receive correct data feeds. Ensure systems are efficient, mitigate risk and review systems for compliance. Lead and advise on implementation/conversion projects, follow proper change management and testing practices.

  • System Compliance & Security: Continually monitor for system risk and mitigate accordingly. [AL(5] Advise and escalate identified risks appropriately. Develop and maintain procedures for data security and backups, including routine system audits.

  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with vendors, including effective communication on system needs, issues and troubleshooting. Organize and maintain a system of issue recording, requirements/ enhancements, facilitate vendor escalations and third-party accountability as needed. Manage contracts, agreements and track payments to vendors and third-party contractors, per guidelines. Lead system requirement gathering/enhancement reviews with vendors to ensure systems are optimized.

  • Team Management: Manage a team of learning system professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, supervision, and support. Manage the capability and development of team members and encourage their professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree minimum; Master’s degree a plus

  • Discipline/Major: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as instructional design, education, or information technology. Master's degree is a plus.

  • Required Certifications: Certifications in Project Management, Learning Systems, Analytics is advantageous.

  • Required Years and Area of Professional Experience: At least 8 years’ experience in managing learning management systems and other training technologies in large organizations (5000+ users) of which at least 5 years were spent directly managing a team. System implementation experience required.

  • Critical Professional Related Technical/Computer Skills: LMS Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the organization's LMS, including its features, functionality, and best practices for customization and administration-Learning Pedagogy: Understanding of e-learning principles, instructional design, and adult learning theory to create effective online courses and content. Course Development: Proficiency in developing online courses and content, including multimedia elements, quizzes, and assessments, using the LMS tools. Content Management: Ability to organize and manage a library of e-learning materials, ensuring easy access and version control. User Support: Providing technical support to learners and instructors who use the LMS, resolving issues and answering questions promptly. Reporting and Analytics: Utilizing the LMS's reporting, and analytics features to track learner progress, assess course effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions. MS Integration: Integrating the LMS with other software and tools, such as HR systems, to streamline data flow and reporting. Compliance and Security: Ensuring that the LMS complies with relevant regulations and industry standards and maintaining data security and privacy. Project Management: Managing LMS implementation and updates, including coordinating with vendors, IT, and other stakeholders. User Training: Providing training to users, instructors, and administrators on how to use the LMS effectively. Content Authoring Tools: Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar software for creating interactive content. Quality Assurance: Conducting quality checks on courses and content to ensure they meet educational objectives and function correctly. Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to the LMS, such as system errors or connectivity problems. Vendor Management: effectively managing vendor relationships and contracts. Data Analysis: Analyzing LMS data to make recommendations for improvements and enhancements, as well as to assess the impact of training programs on performance. Change Management: Facilitating the adoption of new features or changes in the LMS, ensuring a smooth transition for users.

  • Preferred Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Education, Instructional Design, or a related discipline is often preferred. Master’s degree or specialized certifications are advantageous e.g., SCRUM, Agile, Microsoft, etc.

  • Preferred Experience & Type: Experience with a variety of learning management systems and leadership role in system implementation, optimization, integration, and decision-making. Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, SaaS based MS Enterprise applications, Oracle HRIS is advantageous.

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Continuous Learning: Keeping up to date with e-learning trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in the field.

  • Strategic Planning: Aligning the LMS strategy with the organization's overall goals and objectives. Communication Skills: Effective communication with learners, instructors, and other stakeholders to gather feedback and address concerns.

  • Learning Needs Assessment: Identifying the organization's learning needs and translating them into course content and development plans.

Decision-Making:

  • Operational: Decisions focus on day-to-day activities within the company. Decisions made at this level help to ensure that daily activities proceed smoothly and therefore help to move the company toward reaching a strategic goal. They have short term consequences. Examples are: Handling employee conflicts, purchasing materials needed for operations.

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities.

Travel: None or very little travel likely.

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

The range for this role’s salary $75,900-$120,000. Offers to the selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
