CORE JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Professor of Clinical will have clinical and research responsibilities within the Department of Medicine, Division of Myeloma, and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. This individual will serve as an attending physician in the Division of Myeloma, with a focus on the care and treatment of patients with multiple myeloma and particular focus on immunotherapies . This includes outpatient care, as well as inpatient attending responsibilities for the division at Uhealth Tower.

This individual should be motivated to support the research mission of the Department and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center to advance patient care for the patients of South Florida and beyond.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Responsible for holding clinic sections and for inpatient attending duties at Sylvester’s main campus.

Conduct and develop clinical and translational trials related to the treatment of myeloma, and other plasma cell disorders. Will be expected to supervise and/or participate in ongoing clinical trials and assist in the expansion of clinical trials portfolio as an investigator and a principal investigator.

Publishes in refereed journals as principal investigator and/or in collaboration with other senior faculty, principal investigator (s ) or program director (s).

Expected to generate sufficient funds to cover his/her professional income practice expenses and contribute to the Department of Medicine each fiscal year.  

Participate in the Department of Medicine and the Division of Myeloma meetings, Department of Medicine Grand Rounds and other academic activities.

Thus, the incumbent will be expected to participate in didactic teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as attending and actively participating in seminars and other educational lectures. Teaching also includes participating in the supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows who are involved in direct patient care. As a faculty member, we also anticipate that you will be an active participant – attending meetings, Grand Rounds, and other University scholarly activities.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

M.D., Board certification or eligibility in Hematology and/or Oncology is required . Active or eligibility to obtain a Florida Medical License.

Certification and Licensing:

Experience:

Qualifications should include a demonstrated track record of excellence in patient care, peer-reviewed publications and the potential to serve as principal investigator of cutting-edge clinical trials for myeloma patients. 

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Experience working with multidisciplinary clinical and research teams, in teaching, and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  The candidate must be able to work efficiently and independently as part of a collaborative group.
