About the Role

The Senior Manager of Operations will lead a cross-functional team and will be responsible for the People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost & Innovation performance while delivering product to our customer. The Senior Operations Manager ensures all requirements associated with the successful assembly of vehicles for the plant’s customer. This is facilitated through Managers and Supervisors of Production, Quality, Engineering, and Facilities.

In this role, there will be regular interaction with the plant’s cross-functional teams, executive leadership, and regulatory agencies. This position requires strong leadership and people skills, the ability to problem solve, proactively identify issues, and develop and communicate action plans.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manages employees and first-level managers and supervisors performing activities within multiple operations disciplines.

  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans , policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals and objectives .

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the Production, Quality, Engineering, and Facilities departments. Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management and leads process improvements.

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.

  • Coordinates shift and production run changes to ensure on-time delivery of good quality products.

  • Participates in manpower requirements planning and overtime scheduling . Integrates all operations engineering changes into production. Develops ramp-up plans for launching programs.

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.

  • Leads, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers and supervisors .

Who we are looking for

  • Technical or business degree

  • Minimum 15 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience coaching, guiding and mentoring cross-functional teams

  • Minimum of 7 year of experience with Quality Management Systems and or Shop Floor Control Systems

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience advising and influencing managers or non-managers to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience using lean manufacturing and/or continuous improvement practices and tools in the workplace

  • Ability to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime

  • Able to multi-task on several fronts to meet Business Plan objectives. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing operation systems (ERP, MES, etc.). Strong math skills with the ability to apply to costs and analyze data

  • Strong listening, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills. Attention to detail and exceptional planning and organizational skills. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and with a variable workload (flexible hours)

Your preferred qualifications

  • Several years of experience effectively communicating with employees, peers and senior leadership. Experience in building a culture of safety and quality. Emotional intelligence and resilience

  • Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements (ISO 9000/ ISO 14001) and industry standards

  • Knowledge and execution experience as it relates to APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans and Process Flow

  • Proven ability to create and execute project plans that have achieved the identified targets. Ability to create and manage autonomous work groups with defined expectations and deliverables

  • Knowledge and proven skills in World Class Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen

  • Highly motivated, self-directed, creative, innovative, and people-oriented person
