Meta Counsel, Legal Investigations in Menlo Park, California

Summary:

Meta is seeking a highly motivated attorney for a legal investigations role. This attorney will focus on our highest-priority integrity areas, such as influence operations, fraud, and election interference across key products and surfaces, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Reality Labs. The attorney must have strong investigative skills, including the ability to interview engineers and other technical experts, glean the most important facts, apply strong analytical skills, and produce recommendations to mitigate legal risks. The position requires someone who can work well with cross-functional partners, navigate ambiguity, and drive forward results in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills:

Counsel, Legal Investigations Responsibilities:

  1. Work with investigation teams to prevent abuses on Meta’s platforms and harm to users and others

  2. Conduct legal investigations, including targeted fact finding and legal risk analysis

  3. Develop risk-based recommendations to managing integrity-related legal risks

  4. Provide advice and counsel on integrity and security matters to investigators, engineers, and other partners

  5. Support the company’s efforts to advance integrity compliance and navigate an evolving legal risk landscape.

  6. Support and oversee information sharing efforts

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one U.S. state bar

  2. 3+ years of experience at a law firm, government, or in-house as a practicing attorney

  3. Demonstrated history of working with direct and cross-functional teams to successfully build relationships and achieve goals

  4. Demonstrated experience working strategically to solve legal challenges under pressure of deadlines

  2. Experience in government investigations or tech investigations

Public Compensation:

$167,000/year to $233,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
